How to prevent- Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Since before the days of Cleopatra, elegance and beauty have been characterized by firm, tight, bright looking skin and millions of people have worked endlessly on attempting to attain these goals.  Although you cannot prevent wrinkles perfectly, with the right treatments, there are several ways to prevent fine lines and wrinkles and
delay their development.  Here is a list of great tools to use:

Avoiding excessive sun exposure- Avoid spending too much time in the direct sun, especially during the hours when the sun's rays are harshest.  The UV rays cause wrinkles to the skin. In addition the UV light from tanning booths is just as damaging as the sun's — and sometimes worse.

Don't smoke- Smoking robs your skin of precious moisture and causes premature (early) wrinkles.
Sleep on your back- The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) cautions that sleeping in certain positions night after night leads to "sleep lines -- wrinkles that become etched into the surface of the skin and don't disappear once you're up. Sleeping on your side increases wrinkles on cheeks and chin, while sleeping face-down gives you a furrowed brow. To reduce wrinkle formation, the AAD says, sleep on your back.

Avoid squinting -- get reading glasses- The AAD says any repetitive facial movement -- like squinting -- overworks facial muscles, forming a groove beneath the skin's surface. This groove eventually becomes a wrinkle. Also important: Wear sunglasses. It will protect skin around the eyes from sun damage -- and further keep you from squinting.

Do Facial Exercises- There are various exercises that one can do to keep the skin tight and keeps a strong formation in the muscles attaching the skin to the skull and jaw lane.
Get sufficient Vitamins- Studies at Tulane University, among others, have found they can increase collagen production, protect against damage from UVA and UVB rays, correct pigmentation problems, and improve inflammatory skin conditions.

Moisturize your skin- Keeping the skin hydrated allows for effective elasticity.  It is important to make sure that moisturizers contains high levels of vitamin E for additional elasticity preventing the skin from shriveling with loss of collagen.

Returns skin collagen- Collagen is the protein that bonds the cells together.  As we age, a higher percentage of the body’s collaged production is dedicated to tend to and protect other, more vital, organs, Mineral Cosmetics  than the skin.

With the help of these few basic tools, along with a high intake of water (at least 8 glasses everyday) it is easy to prolong the skins’ young appearance and vibrant, healthy shine.  In the next informative letter you will be provided with a list of exercises you can do, which foods are best to eat and which products are best to use in order to diminish the appearance of fine lines, and prevent the tired look of wrinkles.

Body Treatment- Causes

Dry skin is a problem that affects a large percentage of the population and can be downright uncomfortable for most. Causes of dry skin vary; however, lack of proper hydration is the most common reason. Dry skin is characterized by a thin, paper-like texture that feels dry to the touch, usually resulting in irritation or itchiness.  It is a problem that can be treated and prevented utilizing the proper nutritional, hydration, activity, and skin care product tips.

According to many studies made by dermatologists, weather changes can be a large factor, which causes dry skin.  When the air cools and wind chill picks up, the moisture is swept from our skin and fine layer of dead, dried, skin cells remains, compiling into a thicker layer as time goes by. "Once the weather starts to change, I see patients coming in complaining of dry, itchy skin," says Linda Stein Gold, MD, clinical research director for the dermatology department at Detroit's Henry Ford Hospital. If not treated properly, dry skin causes a pointless distraction to a fully functioning day.

Other than the weather, there are many internal factors that can be the cause of this common condition. According to William C. Shiel Jr., MD, FACP, FACR, “internal factors include overall health, age, genetics, family history, and a personal history of other medical conditions like asthma, allergies, and atopic dermatitis. In particular those with thyroid disease are more prone to developing dry skin. Occasionally, a dry skin problem can be a sign of an internal medical condition. For instance, aging may inherently make people more prone to developing dry skin.”

The worst form of dry skin is the one that is self-inflicted.  Many people are not aware, but they could actually be adding fuel to the fire with some of the products that they feel are the “solution”.  Alcohol, or chemical based products like many brands of soaps, “moisturizers or lotions”, along with anti-bacterial hand sanitizers actually cause more damage to the skin, than good.  Alcohol and many of the chemicals in certain products absorb and release the hydration out of the cells.  So if your lotion feels good for about five minutes, but then you feel like you need more, you are using a product designed to keep you “addicted” by providing a short-term solution to a long-term problem.

External factors that cause dry skin include
·         over-washing with harsh soaps
·         over-use of sanitizers and cleaning agents (alcohol)
·         cold temperature
·         low humidity
